I began my ad career at Hal Riney and Partners in San Francisco. The place was humming. It was a great place to learn a craft. After a couple of years I moved east to work at Fallon in New York, and then at Ogilvy, on accounts like IBM, Motorola and Sprite.
After Ogilvy I took a detour, following a passion for writing fiction, and moved to Arizona to get an MFA in Creative Writing. I followed this up with a long stretch at Stanford University, spending two years as a Stegner Fellow in the Creative Writing Department and then two more as a Jones Lecturer (teaching fiction writing to undergrads). For a few years after that I balanced teaching, writing and freelance work on accounts like Apple, iShares, HP, Virgin and Nissan.
I re-entered advertising full time in 2012 at TBWA Chiat Day in LA, on the Nissan account. In 2016, I moved on to MAL and Apple.
Industry honors include One Show, Creativity Pick of the Day, Adweek Ad of the Day, Adweek Best Spots of the Year, Adweek: YouTube's Most Watched Spots of the Month, CA Advertising Annual, Ad Age Best Award, International Andy Awards, Archive, Graphis and more.
